Custodial History
The music was on exhibit along with the instrument at the 1876 Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia. The instrument was deposited at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in 1884 and reclaimed in 1947. It is not certain whether the music was also sent to the Corcoran. The music was transferred from the artifactual collection of the Department of Anthropology to the National Anthropological Archives by Chang-su Houchins in March 1984.
