The drawings were made after Medicine Crow's return home from his 1880 trip to Washington, D. C. Among the drawings are a zebra, camel, elephant, and others animals that he saw at a circus while he was in Washington. There are also birds, fish, a steamship, warships, and trains. In addition, there is a drawing of the Capitol in Washington.

Custodial History
The drawings were loaned by Allan J. Chalk to Herman J. Viola when Viola was working on his book Diplomats in Buckskin. Chalk also gave the archives permission to make copies of the drawings.
