Scope and Contents
Scope and Contents
Included are side and full view bust portraits executed in accordance with a standard type of Daruma--"three-quarter view of the head and shoulders with the furrowed brow, the eyeballs rolled in one direction, the mouth turned downward to emphasize the vigor of concentration." Inscriptions on catalog number 414,616 read perserverance, selfsurrender; resignation; peace of mine. These are followed by a haiku, or seventeen-syllable verse--"Katatoki mo wasuretewa naranu knon ichiji (not even for a moment, I must not forget this word).
