Scope and Contents

Scope and Contents
The map is made up of United States Geological Survey sheets for Maryland-District of Columbia-Virginia West Washington and District of Columbia-Maryland East Washington, surveyed in 1885-86 and 1886. The key to the annotations suggests that the additions show paleolithic sites. Some markings are unexplained.

Administration

Custodial History
The map is from a group that was apparently transferred in 1973 from the Department of Anthropology. It may have formerly been among the Division of Archeology map collection. Authorship of the annotations has not been established.
