The collection has been described in Otis T. Mason, "The Guesde collection of antiquities, Pointe-á-Pître, Guadaloupe, West Indians," Smithsonian Institution Annual Report, 1884, pp. 731-837.

Custodial History
Drawings by Guesde were received in the Department of Anthropology in 1880 but additional ones, having been lost by the Post Office, were not delivered until 1895. The drawings were originally accession under the number 29,775 but the number was cancelled. There is, nevertheless, correspondence under that number in the registrar's files. The drawings appear to have been matted or framed at one time, and they may have been hung in the archeology hall in the Smithsonian Institution Building (see negative 4811).
Custodial History
Previously titled "Carib stone implements."
