Administration
Custodial History
The provenance is uncertain. The donor, Leavenworth Holden, relates that a relative once spent time in Wyoming and Montana. Candace Greene postulated a Blackfoot origin of the basis of the dress of the figures and the drawing of a moose included among the animals. John C. Ewers examined the drawings and agrees that they are probably by a Blackfoot.
Custodial History
The drawings were donated by Mr. Leavenworth Holden, of Easton, Maryland, March 1991. They were brought to the museum by Dr. Thomas Kavanagh, a friend of Mr. Holden and an employee of the Handbook of American Indians. Kavangh delivered them to Candace Greene together with a number of other objects. Only the drawings were retained. Greene's correspondence with Holden is filed in the Collection Management files of the Department of Anthropology. Previously titled "Antelope drawings, possibly Blackfoot."
