Local Note
Local Note
Inscription inside front cover reads "Compiled for Col. James Stevenson, U. S. Geological Survey." There is also an unsigned introductory note, dated January 1892. According to Louis Hieb (March 25, 2005), Stevenson died in 1888 and last visited Thomas V. Keam and Alexander McGregor Stephen in the fall of 1885. The vocabulary thus may have been compiled at an earlier date.
