Photograph album prepared by Arthur C. Ballard circa 1950-1956 and submitted to the Indian Claims Commission in connection with the Mucklesoot claim. It includes images of Muckleshoot people, artifacts relating to salmon catching and preparation, dwellings, textiles, and ceremonial objects. Also included in the collection are Ballard's manuscript of "The Salmon Weir on the Green River in Western Washington,"Davidson Journal of Anthropology 3: no. 1, 1957, and seven snapshot prints of the salmon weir, received from A. C. Ballard March 25, 1958.

Biographical/Historical note
Arthur Condit Ballard (1876-1962) collected and translated legends and linguistic material belonging to people from the Puget Sound region in Western Washington. Raised near the White River, Ballard attended Whitworth College and graduated from the University of Washington in 1899, before the establishment of an anthropology department. He worked as a schoolteacher, post office worker, and City Clerk for the City of Auburn, as well as secretary for the Azurite Gold Company and the Auburn Investment Company. He made depositions to the Indian Claims Commission for both the Muckleshoot and Puyallup tribes and was a founder of the White River Valley Historical Society.
