Images of New Guinea people (mostly women and children), a boat, a village, and members of the United States Army. Many images show the women holding packs of cigarettes, probably from soldiers.

Biographical/Historical note
According to the donor, Edith L. Miller, the photographs were made by her brother while he was serving with the 163rd Regiment, 41st Division, US Army, in New Guinea during World War II. Which brother is not known, as Miller had four brothers: Arthur Eugene Wilks, Delbert Earl Wilks, George James Wilks, and Roy Clinton Peck.

Donated together with pieces of barkcloth by Edith L. Miller to the National Museum of Natural History in 1990 (accession 380528). Transferred to the National Anthropological Archives by Susan Crawford in July of that year.
