Photographs made by Regis M. Quirin and Leon Poplawski in Dominica that depict the island's natural and urban scenery as well as Carib peoples. There are images of Carib Indians and their activities and villages as well as cities and scenery in Dominica, including Roseau and Portsmouth. Among the photographs of Carib peoples are images of basket making, clothes washing and drying, the making of a dugout canoe, and banana agriculture, including cutting bunches and loading bananas onto ships. The collection also includes a map of the West Indies and Regis M. Quirin and Leon Poplawski's report, "The Carib Expedition."

Regis M. Quirin is an industrial photographer and photo journalist. After serving in the United States Army in Japan and Formosa (1953-1955), he traveled with Leon Poplawski, a radar repairman with the US Army (1953-1955), to Dominica, a British island in the West Indies (June-July 1955). The pair visited Roesau, the capital of Dominica, as well as Salybia, a small village on the island's Carib reserve.
