Image of a portrait of Tomah Joseph possibly in Paris. The frame of the portrait is possibly birchbark, and may have been constructed by Joseph. It is decorated with animals and inscribed with "Gov Tomah Joseph, Passamaquoddy Tribe."

Tomah Joseph (1837-1914) was a Passamaquoddy artist, governor, and friend of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. He was famous for his etched birchbark decorative art pieces. Around 1882, he served as tribal governor of Peter Dana Point, Maine.
