This collection includes the following: 29 first flight air mail covers; 264 photographs (8 x 10) of Empire employees, aerial and ground photos, internal and external airplane shots and 31 miscellaneous negatives; newspaper clippings and correspondence; and a few photographs of Zimmerly Airlines. The articles discuss flights in Idaho (flight schools, airmail, air shows, airports, etc.).

Biographical / Historical
Boise-based Empire Airlines started in September 1946 as a feeder airline with routes between Idaho Falls / Boise and between Boise / Spokane, Washington. The primary passenger aircraft by 1948 was the Douglas DC-3 'Timesaver', which was able to carry 24 passengers and three crew. Empire also carried air mail.
