This collection consists of photographs, mostly from the World War I period. The photographs include pilots, airships, airfields, aerial views and aircraft of World War I, as well as a few photographs from after the war

Biographical / Historical
Laurence La Tourette Driggs (born 1876) was a lawyer who had a strong interest in aviation and became an aircraft specialist. Driggs learned to fly in 1913 and was in Germany studying flying in 1914 when war broke out. Driggs began writing articles on war aviation and in 1916 he was the guest of the British Government as an aviation expert. After the war he remained active in aviation. He founded the American Flying Club, organized the New York-Toronto Air Race, lectured on aviation; contributed aviation articles to magazines, wrote books on aviation, and was involved with Colonial Western Airways.
