This collection consists of an Aviators Flight Log Book belonging to United States Coast Guard Radioman Ross F. Eastman; the logbook records entries for the period July 23, 1943, through November 21, 1947, when Eastman was based at US Coast Guard Air Station Salem, on Winter Island in Salem, Massachusetts. Highlights include coastal patrols, rescues, and short hops in the Cape Cod region throughout 1944-45; a cross-country flight in February and March 1946 from Naval Auxiliary Air Facility Beverly (Massachusetts) to Seattle, Washington, and return; and Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress training in Florida in May 1946. The collection also includes five black and white photographs relating to his service, taken at the USCG Air Station Salem, Massachusetts (four images), and in the Yakutat, Alaska, region (one image).
