The Zeppelin LZ 129
Hindenburg
was slightly larger than the previous Graf Zeppelin
. It was 803 feet long, 146 feet high, 135 feet in diameter with 7,063,000 cubic feet of gas space supplied by 16 hydrogen gas cells. Its four diesel engines had 1100 horsepower each. It was able to carry 50 passengers plus crew members. Before the explosion that killed 36 people on May 6, 1937, the Hindenburg
made many transatlantic flights which took two to three days. Emma Kauert was a passenger on the Hindenburg
from October 9-11, 1936.Administration
