Transferring to Call Field in Texas, he serviced as a flying instructor from January to July 1918 in addition to his role as the Officer in Charge of Flying and Stage Commander. Promoted to Captain in August, he commanded the 46th Aero Squadron, Group A, de Haviland Day Bombing Squadron, 1st Provisional Wing under the United States Army Air Service. Processing Information
Tower's scrapbook came to the National Air Museum as a loan for duplication, evident from documentation found within the biographical section of
Technical Reference Files
(NASM.XXXX.1183.C). Although undated, this loan for copying likely occurred before 1949 since some original envelopes record "copy neg shot on 6/7/1949 by Paul E. Garber." Copied prior to the Smithsonian's Office of Printing and Photographic Services, these derivative scrapbook pages were initially listed as part of the National Air Museum Photography Collection
(NASM.XXXX.0572) before breaking out as this distinct collection (NASM.XXXX.1184).Digital Content
