Scope and Contents note

Scope and Contents note
This material consists primarily of catalogues, printed advertisements, price lists, scattered correspondence on letterhead stationery, newsletters, handbills, leaflets, recipe books and premiums from manufacturers and distributors of consumer products made of aluminum. Most of these products include cooking utensils and include baby food warmers, pots, pans, cookie sheets, molds, Dutch ovens, boilers, steamers, tea kettles, griddles, and fryers. Other products include tableware, institutional and hotel ware, small gadgets, containers, moulding and windows.
A number of materials are also concerned with the industrial process of producing aluminum and industrial uses. Most of these materials tend to be publications and cover a number of topics including physical properties of aluminum, history of commercial use, wrought alloys and types of castings. A number of the publications also contain tables. The bulk of the materials dates from 1940-1965.

Immediate Source of Acquisition note
Aluminum is a portion of the Business Ephemera Series of the Warshaw Collection of Business Americana, Accession AC0060 purchased from Isadore Warshaw in 1967. Warshaw continued to accumulate similar material until his death, which was donated in 1971 by his widow, Augusta. For a period after acquisition, related materials from other sources (of mixed provenance) were added to the collection so there may be content produced or published after Warshaw's death in 1969. This practice has since ceased.
