These handwritten reminiscences are recollections of Edwin Price's experiences operating steam engines. The reminiscences document Price's experiences with repair work he performed on the trains he operated as well as recollections of his superiors, the passengers on his trains, and the local people within the communities though which his locomotives traveled. Some of the companies Price worked for include the Nashville and Chattanooga Railroad, Western and Atlantic, Little Miami Railroad and the Cincinnati and Wilmington Railroad. There is one handwritten volume of two hundred and fifty pages and a two hundred and seventy-five page typescript copy of the original.

Edwin Price (1829-1901), born in Overton, Glamorgan, Wales, was a locomotive engineer who lived in Ludlow, Kenton County, Kentucky. He operated trains along the east coast of the United States.

Collection is open for research. The original journal/memoir is restricted because it is too fragile to handle. Researchers must use the typescript version of the journal/memoir.
