Biographical/Historical note
Biographical/Historical note
Lester R. Baker, the only child of Eloise and Latimer R. Baker, owned the scrapbook and evidently assembled it as a young boy in the 1880s. He died at age five in 1884 and is buried in the Siloam Cemetery, Vineland, New Jersey. Celia K. Erskine, a much younger cousin, donated the scrapbook in 1983. Lester's father, Latimer, was the brother of Philip B. Baker, New Jersey state senator, and J. Thompson Baker, U.S. Congressman; according to Mrs. Erskine, the brothers founded Wildwood and Wildwood Crest, New Jersey, ca. 1905.
