Scope and Contents
Scope and Contents
Contains material documenting the cultural values and popular attitudes toward Reveries. The bulk of the material dates from 1907 to 1915 and was created in the United States. The materials are arranged alphabetically by title in 2 boxes. The music is generally composed for piano and piano/vocal. Many of the compositions are serenades and ballads. Most of the materials in the series suggest a dreamy and romantic state with themes of religion, nature, and beauty. Mythical and supernatural creatures such as fairies, elves, goblins, and imps are included in the song titles and lyrics. The illustrations in the series depict these creatures along with images of romance, dreams, heaven, and nature.
