Kennedy, a free-lance writer, became a close friend to Rex Stewart, and conducted taped interviews with him late in his life, when he was writing his autobiography.

Ownership and Custodial History
Anne Judd Kennedy conducted the interviews during the 1960s, and in 1991 she offered them for purchase to the Smithsonian, along with the other documentary material.
