Collection includes ten maps of areas along the Appalachian Trail, some issued by clubs and trail conferences, and 26 lantern slides of views of the Trail in New England, specifically Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.
Series 1, Lantern Slides, circa 1922, consists of twenty-six 3ΒΌ" x 4" inch black-and-white mounted-glass lantern slides depicting views of the Appalachian Trail, views of mountains, rivers, hikers, camp scenes, and canoeing, near Mt. Katahdin, Maine. Some lanterns slides are cracked, and there is no arrangement.
Series 2, Maps, 1904-1951, consists of ten maps issued by Appalachian Trail clubs and conferences. Most of the maps are copies or blueprints. One map is on tracing paper. The maps are 33"x 34" or smaller and are arranged chronologically.

The maps were presumably used by Wiley family members while hiking the Appalachian Trail and the lantern slides depict some Wiley family members and friends while hiking.
