The collection consists of sheet music written specifically for or included in stage and screen musicals, television programs, Big Bands, and radio. The collection may also include ephemeral items related to each specific production or personality such as theater programs, reviews and posters; and a small number of costume design drawings. All series are arranged alphabetically by title or proper name.

A lifelong film and theater fan, Donald J. Stubblebine began collecting sheet music, programs, and ephemera from stage and film musicals in about 1970. He was an often sought expert in stage and film sheet music and wrote guidebooks on early Broadway sheet music, Broadway sheet music, British musicals and motion pictures, and motion picture sheet music.
