The Gray Panthers, an activist group supporting the rights of senior citizens, was founded in 1970 by Maggie Kuhn and several others. The original name of the group was "Consultation of Older and Younger Adults for Social Change." It was nicknamed Gray Panthers, a name that the group later officially adopted.

Transferred to the Archives Center in 2015 by the Division of Medicine and Science, National Museum of American HIstory.
