It contains internal company procedural instructions, reports, statistics, property records, property inventory, one photograph of a tungsten mine, appraisals of company property, lab reports and technical papers on metals used in products, and clippings.

General Electric was founded in 1892 by the merger of the Edison General Electric Company and the Thomson-Houston Company. Lighting was one of the first concentrations of the company.
