This collection contains 8 color slides photographed by Shirley Hoffmann circa 1989-1990. The photographs depict Arawakan women of the San Carlos de Rio Negro region of the Amazonas, Venezuala. In the photos, the women are processing bitter manioc (yuca) using a Cebucan (woven squeezer), a grater that consists of sharp stones embedded in a board, and a sifter to sift freshly squeezed manioc.
