Descriptive Entry
Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of a correspondence register, apparently used as in index to photographs of correspondents. Although provenance is unclear, the index appears to be a register of cartes de visite of prominent scientists solicited and received by Spencer F. Baird and G. Brown Goode, who was Assistant Secretary in charge of the United States National Museum, 1881-1896, including the years 1881-1887 when he served as Assistant Director of the Museum without the title of Assistant Secretary. For the cartes de visite see Record Unit 95
