This accession consists of records that document Special Exhibition Fund (SEF) grant activities for significant exhibitions at the Smithsonian Institution. The fund was first administered by the Office of the Assistant Secretary for the Arts and Humanities, 1992-1994, and by the Assistant Provost for the Arts and Humanities, 1994-1996, before the Office of the Provost (OP) assumed this responsibility in 1996. Joan Zavala, OP Program Administrator, served as fund manager that year. The records primarily consist of memoranda pertaining to SEF funding awards, and budgetary information.
