This accession consists of general subject files relating to National Zoological Park (NZP) programs, facilities, and administration; and issues of animal welfare, conservation, zoological parks and aquariums. These files were created and maintained during the tenures of Directors Theodore H. Reed, 1958-1983; and Michael H. Robinson, 1984-2000.
Materials include correspondence, memoranda, brochures, meeting minutes, planning files, information files, and reports. Some files at the end of this accession are simply labeled "Miscellaneous." These records were not properly filed within the Director's Office file structure. Therefore, some files may pertain to other series received from the Office, including National Zoological Park Offices, Officials, and Programs Records; Smithsonian Institution Bureaus and Offices Files; and Budget Records.
