This accession consists of records documenting films and videos produced by the Office of Education. The most documented film in this accession is "The Art of the Hyo-gushi," a 45 minute film following the restoration of three Japanese paintings by Takahi Sugiura and his assistants, Shigero Mikkachi and Makoto Souta. Other productions documented in this accession include "Challenging the Past: The Paintings of Chang Dai-Chien;" "Ukiyo-e: Art for the People;" "Japanese Hand-Made Paper;" "Centuries of Prints;" "The Black Ships;" "Revere the Emperor, Expel the Barbarian;" "Rich Country, Strong Military;" "Three Worlds of Bali;" "Taksu;" "Serama's Mask;" "Dances of Bali;" "Masters of the Shadows;" "Art of Indonesia;" "Kembali;" "Ancient Japan;" "Sri Lankan Dance;" "Jhaveri Sisters: Manipuri Dance Troupe;" "Yani: The Brush of Innocence;" "Korea Folk Art;" "Arabic Art;" "Oriental Brushwork;" "The Crown for the Nation;" "Many Valuable Historical Relics Unearthed in China During Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution;" "Excavation at Ch'ang-Sha Han Tomb;" and "Korean Dexterity: The Silver Decorated Knife." Materials include masters, edited masters, sound rolls, original camera negatives, and release prints in 16 mm film, 1/4" audiotape, Beta videotape, and VHS videotape formats. Some background information for "The Art of the Hyo-gushi" and "Many Valuable Historical Relics Unearthed in China during Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution" is also included.
