Descriptive Entry
Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of audiovisual records created during the production of "Sikhote-Aline Meteorite" and "Smithsonian Institution Missouri River Basin Survey." Sikhote-Aline Meteorite" documents the meteorite between 1947, when it fell in Siberia, and 1950 and was produced by the Central Documentary Film Studio in Moscow in 1956. This film, or pieces of this film, were probably used to accompany an exhibition at the Smithsonian. "Smithsonian Institution Missouri River Basin Survey" was filmed by Waldo Rudolph Wedel, Archeologist, Division of Cultural Anthropology, and Warren W. Caldwell, Chief of the Missouri Basin Project, River Basin Surveys, documenting their work on the survey between 1947 and 1965. Materials include original camera rolls, duplicate negatives, and prints, all on 16 mm film.
