This accession consists of film, videotape and audio elements documenting "Mirror of Kings: Tales from Kalila Wa Dimna," a film that premiered in 1982 in conjunction with "Renaissance of Islam: Art of the Mamluks" an exhibition at the Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery. The Kalila WA Dimna was a popular book in the ancient world. It taught morals and princely behavior to rulers through stories enacted by birds and animals. The fable of the lion and the ox is one of these tales. It was produced and directed by Karen Loveland and narrated by Omar Sharif. Materials consist of 35mm film, 35mm sound, 16mm film, 1/4" audiotapes, and 3/4" U matic videotapes.
