This accession consists of records created and maintained by Christen M. Wemmer, Associate Director, documenting administrative activities. Some materials pre-date Wemmer and the Conservation and Research Center (CRC) and were probably collected from other offices as informational files. Major topics include the American Association for Zoological Parks and Aquariums (now the American Zoo and Aquarium Association), the Appalachian Trail, Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ), programs in Nepal, Pere David's deer, personnel issues, research proposals, safety and security, daily operations, and public outreach.
