This accession consists of subject files from the Office of the Associate Director for Science. Associate Directors represented in these materials include Daniel E. Appleman, 1989-1993; Anna K. Behrensmeyer, Acting Associate Director for Science, 1993-1995, David L. Pawson, 1995-1998, and Ross B. Simons, Acting Associate Director for Science, 1998, and Associate Director for Research and Collections, 1998-2003.
Materials include correspondence, committee records, and reports. Some records document other positions held by Associate Director for Research and Collections, Ross B. Simons. Particularly well documented are operations of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Center and the Mpala Wildlife Foundation.
