This accession consists of records documenting the activities of the chairmen of the Department of Social and Cultural History and its predecessor, the Department of Social and National History. The records primarily include the correspondence, memoranda, and notes of Claudia Brush Kidwell, Chairman, 1979-1980; Anne Castrodale Golovin, Co-chair, 1982, Acting Chairman, 1992, and Chairman, 1993-1994; Gary Kulik, Chairman, 1983-1986; Tom D. Crouch, Chairman, 1986-1990; Spencer R. Crew, Chairman, 1990-1992; and Rodris Roth, Acting Chairman, 1994. Materials also include budget summaries; contracts; exhibition and collection records; divisional mission statements; fellowship, committee, symposium, and minority program information; and reports.
