This accession consists of audiovisual materials created during the production of "Montserrat" (8:15) and "Crow Fair" (6:56). Both films were shown in the National Museum of Natural History exhibition, "Seeds of Change." The exhibition, planned to observe the quincentenary of Christopher Columbus's arrival in the New World, chronicles the revolutionary effects of Columbus's discovery of America on the cultures of the New and Old Worlds. "Montserrat" documents the history and culture of the island of the same name which is used in the exhibition to exemplify the effect of the sugar industry on native life. "Crow Fair" documents the Crow event, held annually in Montana since 1904, for which the horse (introduced by the Europeans) serves as a central symbol. Materials include original footage, narration, stills, mixes, masters, protection masters, dub masters, protection copies, and final productions on a variety of videotapes and audiotapes.
