This accession consists of records that document the tenure of Ernest A. Lachner (1915-1996), Associate Curator and Curator, 1949-1981 in the National Museum of Natural History, Division of Fishes. Materials include correspondence, certificates, reports and a small amount of papers relating to Lachner's service with World War II U. S. Army Air Forces, during which he specialized in physical oceanography, analyzing ocean waves to assist with the planned landing of troops on foreign shores.
