Descriptive Entry
Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of records which document the administrative activities of Marc Pachter during his tenure as Deputy Assistant Secretary for External Affairs (1990-1994), Counselor to the Secretary for Electronic Communications and Special Projects (1994-1995), and Counselor to the Secretary (1995-2000), respectively. Of particular interest are the records related to the Creative Artists Agency (CAA) Initiative, under the direction of Pachter, which explored opportunities for the Smithsonian Institution to reach new audiences through the entertainment marketplace, in particular looking at television and feature film opportunities. Some of these materials date from the tenure of Jeffrey LaRiche, Deputy Assistant Secretary for External Affairs (1988-1989). Materials include correspondence, memoranda, brochures, reports, contracts, and clippings. Some materials are in electronic format.
