This accession consists of records which document the activities of the Registrar's Office in coordinating exhibitions at the National Museum of American Art (NMAA) and the Renwick Gallery. Exhibitions documented include Stuart Davis; Silver and Gold: Photographs of the Gold Rush; Art of the Gold Rush; Picturing Old New England: Image and Memory; Modern American Realism: Selections from the Sara Roby Foundation Collection; Abbot Thayer: The Nature of Art; Woodcuts by Hiratsuka; Calico and Chintz: Antique Quilts from the Collection of Patricia S. Smith; Dominic DiMare: A Retrospective; and Shaker: Furnishings for the Simple Life. In addition, this accession includes records from when the office was formerly known as the Office of Registration and Collections Management as well as from after NMAA was renamed the Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM). Materials include correspondence; memoranda; checklists; budget records; insurance records; color photographs and negatives; condition reports; prospectuses; loan agreements; conservation information; and black-and-white photographs.
