Descriptive Entry
Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of audiovisual elements that were likely associated with the production of the Smithsonian Video Collection. The Smithsonian Video Collection was a joint venture with Eastman Kodak Company to provide videos featuring Smithsonian Institution collections and research to the general public. A total of six one-hour programs were produced in 1989, including "Supertour;" "First Ladies;" "Gems and Minerals: The Ultimate Rock Video;" "National Zoo: The Zoo Behind the Zoo;" "Creatures Great and Small;" and "Flying Machines." Materials include opening sequences, camera footage, audio mixes, edited masters, and related materials recorded on a variety of videotape and audiotape formats. Some materials may be duplicates of original materials that were then repurposed.
