This accession consists of records documenting behavioral observations of animals at the National Zoological Park. Species documented in this accession include bush dogs, crab-eating foxes, giant pandas (by Devra G. Kleiman and William A. Xanten), lesser pandas, Asian elephants (by John Eisenberg), Tasmanian devils, giraffes, Nile hippopotamus, Indian rhinoceros (by Helmut K. Buechner), spectacled bears (by Daryl J. Boness), sloth bears (by Daryl J. Boness), polar bears (by Daryl J. Boness), sable antelope (by Helmut K. Buechner), bongos, dik diks, oryx, duikers, and golden lion tamarins (by Helmut K. Buechner). Materials include raw and edited audio, film, and video footage. Materials also includes a Friends of the National Zoo training video which include clips from the Department of Zoological Research observations as well as a few lecture recordings.
