Descriptive Entry
Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of records created and maintained by J. (Jonathan) D. Ballou documenting the administration of the Golden Lion Tamarin Conservation Program (GLTCP), particularly in regards to population management. Topics documented in this accession include studbook administration, reintroduction logistics, breeding management within zoos, and involvement with international conservation organizations and committees. In addition to golden lion tamarins, records also document the conservation of golden headed lion tamarins and black lion tamarins. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, meeting materials, grant proposals, data, and related materials. Some materials are in electronic format. Some materials were created by the department's predecessor offices, the Office of Animal Programs (1979-1984) and the Department of Zoological Research and Education (1984-1985).
