Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of the "Ocean Portal" website, maintained by the National Museum of Natural History, as it existed on August 5, 2010. The "Ocean Portal" is a unique, interactive online experience that inspires awareness, understanding, and stewardship of the world's oceans. The website was developed in collaboration with over 20 other organizations. Content is divided into four categories (Ocean Life and Ecosystems, The Ocean Over Time, Ocean Science, and The Ocean and You) and includes topical information, lesson plans, stories, audio, video, and images. It also serves as a portal to ocean-related content from other organizations. In addition, a blog is embedded in the website. Materials are in electronic format.
