Descriptive Entry
Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of two websites and a blog maintained by the National Museum of American History.
The main National Museum of American History website, crawled in several pieces on October 4, 5, 17, and 18 and November 14, 2011, includes information about visiting, exhibitions, departments, staff, donating, internships, fellowships, and volunteering. It also includes online exhibitions.
O Say Can You See?, crawled on May 11, 2012, is the National Museum of American History's blog. The blog takes readers behind the scenes at the museum, sharing insights and information about its exhibitions, events, collections, research projects, and more. The first entry was posted in July 2008.
Smithsonian's History Explorer website was crawled in two parts on July 6 and 7, 2011. It was developed by the National Museum of American History in partnership with the Verizon Foundation to offer free, innovative online resources for teaching and learning American history. These resources focus on learning history by "reading" objects for the stories they hold about the nation and its many peoples. Learning activities feature artifacts selected from the museum's collections and draw on the expertise of the museum's curatorial staff.
Materials are in electronic format.
