Descriptive Entry

Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of the website, "Protection, Prosperity, Preservation: Stories of World Heritage," as it existed on July 12, 2013. This website is a partnership between the Smithsonian Institution and the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and celebrates long-term, sustainable communities, and the efforts that are helping to preserve their cultural and natural heritage for future generations. It provides access, in both English and French, to content related to World Heritage sites that is available from the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the Smithsonian collections. For each of ten sites, the website provides a narrative description, photographs, and images of artwork and other objects. The website also includes teacher guides, posters, and educational games. Due to technical issues, most of the audio is missing from this accession. Materials are in electronic format.
