Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of event listings from across the Smithsonian Institution as they were published on October 21, 2013. The entries have been exported in XML format from the same database which generates the online calendar of events. Due to limitations in the number of entries that may be exported, two XML files have been generated. The first includes only one-time events from September 1 through December 31, 2013. The second, and much larger file, includes all events - both one-time and recurring - up to 1,000 events (September 1-13, 2013). Not every instance of a recurring event may be documented in the file.
Also included in this accession is a developer-generated spreadsheet of all event entries in the database as of September 25, 2013. The earliest event is from May 14, 2008 and some recurring events were scheduled as far ahead as September 6, 2033.
The Office of Visitor Services is responsible for coordinating the submission of event entries to the database.
