This accession consists of the publications: Before and After the Horizon: Anishinaabe Artists of the Great Lakes and For a Love of His People: The Photography of Horace Poolaw. Before and After the Horizon: Anishinaabe Artists of the Great Lakes was published in conjunction with the exhibition of the same name at the George Gustav Heye Center and explores how Anishinaabe (also known in the United States as Ojibwa or Chippewa) artists express their connection with the Great Lakes region. For a Love of His People: The Photography of Horace Poolaw was published in conjunction with the exhibition of the same name at the George Gustav Heye Center and takes a look at the work of Horace Poolaw, photographer and Kiowa Indian, which documented Native America of the southern plains during the mid-twentieth century.
