This accession consists of records documenting the administrative activities of the Office of International Relations and its predecessor, the Directorate of International Activities, in regard to office budgetary matters and the coordinating of internationally-focused Smithsonian projects and initiatives such as grants, workshops, scientific research, and museum project management. Staff represented in these records include director John E. Reinhardt; acting director and director Francine C. Berkowitz; and international liaison specialist Leonard P. Hirsch. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, and notes; budget summaries; agreements; grant and workshop proposals; fellowship and international exchange program information; reports; Smithsonian Foreign Currency Program information; and supporting documentation.
