Descriptive Entry
John H. Dearborn (1933-2010) was professor of marine sciences at the University of Maine (1966-1999). He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in zoology from the University of New Hampshire in 1955. During summer 1956 John was a field assistant with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Laboratory, Boothbay Harbor. He received a Master of Science degree in zoology from Michigan State University in 1957. He received his doctorate degree from Stanford University in 1965. Specializing in echinoderms, Dearborn did a significant amount of research in Polar Regions, including the Antarctic and the Juan Fernandez Islands off the coast of Chile. These papers consist of correspondence, grant records, field notes, diaries, articles, and images.
