Descriptive Entry

This accession consists of the online exhibition "Smithson to Smithsonian: The Birth of an Institution" as it existed on August 12, 2015. It was adapted from an exhibition of the same name that appeared from July 1996 to January 1997 in the Smithsonian Institution Libraries (now the Smithsonian Libraries) exhibition gallery in the National Museum of American History. The exhibition celebrated the 150th anniversary of the Smithsonian Institution. The online exhibition launched in January 1998 and does not appear to have been updated since then. Materials are in electronic format.
